Founded in 2014, Weed Furniture is based on an idea by Andy Weed to join plywood at a right angle with enough strength to support a person.

Weed was trained in hand-composed lead typesetting and printing at the Basel School of Design/Switzerland and is self-taught in carpentry.

The furniture is simple and based on complex construc
tion. For that reason each model requires a very large amount of handwork, including five hand rubbed coats of tung oil, while
made to order in the Sonoran Desert.

The furniture is numbered and not named in the same manner that Japanese cooking knife handles do not have finger grooves to influence interaction.

Additionally, all of our joints conform to the rigorous specifi
cations of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (Bifma).

Finally, as we feel good design is not just based on economy of form, we try to keep costs as low as possible.
